First Friday Art Walk, 5-8 pm, October 2nd

As on of Ashland premerie galleries featuring West Coast and its Native peoples as well as promote the work of Local Artisans who share our vision we are one of the galleries that you can visit as part of the Ashland Gallery Association art walk on the "First Friday" of each month where patrons have an opportunity to meet the artists, view demonstrations, and enjoy browsing in a gallery atmosphere which often includes music and refreshments. First Friday Artwalk is a free event held the first Friday evening of every month in which the galleries and wineries join force. Patrons stroll Ashland's many galleries to meet the artists, see demonstrations and enjoy free refreshments and entertainment.

Please join us for First Friday Art Walk, 5-8 pm, October 2nd, so you can sample some wine and hors d'oeuvres and still have time to catch a play afterwards.

At her studio on Spencer Creek, Brooke Stone integrates her appreciation for animals with her love of art. Her success lies in the sense of intimacy she captures, her ability to hold the spiritual and mythological meanings of animals. These fine Totem creations are hand cast using ancient metal arts and combined with hand-cut stones and carved organic materials (bone, horn, fossil tooth or ivory and, shell), to become stunning originals.

Totem is hard to talk about, really an abstract concept to most modern peoples. The totem is that connection between the spiritual essence of person and the spiritual essence of the animal. If we along with everything else are composed of spirit then, our spiritual voice can converse with the spiritual voice of everything else. Some people in this world today do believe all things are animated by spirit "animals," that everything has a sacred voice to be heard."

She honors her Lakota heritage by listening to Uncis, the Grandmothers, understanding what it means to be patient and letting her beadwork "speak". Her one-of-a-kind hand beaded jewelry is refreshingly unique and vibrantly beautiful. Self taught in this art form, Shauna studied how to interpret and construct traditional ways of beading of several first nations. Born in 1950 in Ft. Collins Colorado, Cavin grew up in the Rocky Mountains. His love for wildlife was a natural reflection of his surroundings, a passion that has endured & fueled his desire to carve. Cavin’s main interest is natural history and his designs reflect this passion. Birds, mammals, and amphibians are well represented in his bronze castings. His castings are very accurate, detailed miniature bronze sculptures designed to be worn.

Carving for the over 25 years, Cavin has created original wildlife jewelry for galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest. His years of devoted study, both in the field and his studio, has made him quite adept at creating realistic poses of wildlife. The best of his carvings are selected for reproduction in bronze.
